Oak Park powers its way to Division 1 sweep

 

State Meet Highlights - LP RESULTS

- Oak Park High School broke the eleven year old record in the Division 1 girl's 4x100 and 4x200 relays. In the 4x100, they took nearly a second off the record, getting the baton around in 46.28 and leading the girls from Ann Arbor Pioneer (47.12) under the old record as well. In the 4x200, they broke the record handily, finishing in 1:36.66.

- Senior Connor Bandel of Oxford broke his own state record in the shot put with a heave of 67-5.75. That is a US#8 mark. He also won the discus with a US#9 throw of 198-11.

- Chloe Abbott, a senior from Northville, broke the Division 1 meet record in her 53.10 win in the 400. She was pushed by Taylor Manson of East Lansing who finished second in 53.65. Abbott also won the 200 in 24.03 and ran a leg on the winning 4x400m relay.

- Sophomore Doriann Coleman of Oak Park won a close race in the Division 1 800 in 2:10.20. Alice Hill of Ann Arbor Pioneer (2:10.61) and Melanie Helder of Hudsonville (2:10.65) finished a hotly contested battle for second and third. 

- The race of the day came in the Division 1 girls 4x400 relay where Northville pulled out a narrow victory over Oak Park. Both teams were timed in 3:50.58. Ann Arbor Pioneer finished third in 3:50.67. Less than a tenth of a second separated the top three teams.

- Khance Meyers, a junior from East Kentwood, won both the Division 1 100 and 200. His 200 time of 21.24 was a meet record.

- Landon Kemp of Greenville, a junior, set the meet record in the Division 1 girls pole vault with a clearance of 13-4.

- Cameron Cooper, a junior from Oak Park, won the Division 1 800 in 1:51.68.

- Junior Kentre Patterson, of East Lansing, won the D1 110 hurdles with a time of 14.03.

-  East Kentwood ran 1:26.27 to set a new Division 1 meet record in the 4x200 relay.

- The Rockford boys 4x800 relay squad won the Division 1 race in 7:43.92.

- Nikole Sargent of Flint Powers Catholic, a senior, won the Division 2 discus (147-9) and shot put (47-5.5).

- Alex Klemm, a junior from Macomb Lutheran North, set the meet record in the Division 2 high jump with a clearance of 7-0.

- Junior Richard Bowens of Orchard Lake Saint Mary's won the 300 hurdles in a Division 2 meet record time of 37.46. It was the top time of the day.

- Noah Jacobs, a junior from Corunna, ran the top time of the day in 3,200 with his 8:55.57 clocking. It was a Division 2 meet record.

- Jacob Battani of Almont had the top clearance of the day in the D3 pole vault with a clearnace of 15-6.

 

Top Teams:

Oak Park swept the both  of the Division 1 team titles. The girls scored 81.5 points while the boys scored 55.
